How to Walk Properly?

Posted by Unknown On 21:00
Hello dear friend!
In this article I want to discuss correct walking posture. Because we are busy into daily activities we are not able to use certain muscles. While you are using a specific walking program, regular walking puts strain on your ankles, knees, hips, thighs and back. It is important to follow a correct walking posture.
I am going to discuss these 2 important factors:
  • Ankle alignment
  • Back bone relaxation
Ankle alignment
A good foot strike is the beginning of a good walking posture.
When you are walking your heel should land on the floor first, allow your feet to rotate and push the floor with your toes. Stand on your right foot firmly and lift your left foot. Unlike running, your feet should never lift off the ground completely while you are walking.
Here is one piece of caution:
When you are doing any kind of exercise or yoga, it is important to note that your knee should never pass your ankle. Visualize a line going straight from your knee to your ankle. Your knee should not move forward to bend this line.
In simple terms, I am saying you should not put any pressure on your ankle. Your ankle should be allowed to move in its natural range of motion. Your toes should be pointing forward in front of you.
For most people walking is fun. I want you to make walking a hobby for you. Enjoy your walking journey. Have fun and do not put stress on your backbone, hips or ankle.
Backbone relaxation
Our back bone is the most important part of our whole body system. When you are walking, your backbone should be naturally straight. Do not put stress on your backbone. Release the tension in your shoulders. Keep your head in line with your shoulders.
Look forward 10 to 20 meters ahead. Focus on a tree in front of you. If you want to look down or up, let your eyes move but do not move your head. Stand as tall as possible. Your legs should be in line with your hips. Keep your toes pointing forward.
Keep your chest up and spine straight. Unnatural curve in your back bone puts stress on your back bone.
In yoga we call this posture "the mountains pose".
In this pose you have to stand on your yoga mat. Keep your hands to your sides and ribs engaged. Join your feet. Keep your head aligned with your shoulders. Look up and breathe deeply. This is the most basic posture of any yoga practice.
While walking, don't forget to take deep breaths. Enjoy yourself. You cannot stick to any health program if you are not enjoying it.
Have fun and thanks for reading!
