Many people believe that beginning an exercise regimen is difficult because they either don't have anyone to work out with, or they don't have the time to work out. However, the real reason behind many people not adopting some form of healthy regimen, they do not want to make the time and don't find it to be important enough

I had a girlfriend who wanted to lose over 20lbs; I gave her a number of pointers; stop eating fast food. For those of you who only want to lose 20 or 30lbs can do so by changing your diet and staying discipline. If you're a person that drinks sodas, drinks consumed with sugar, and eating out all the time; if you stop these bad habits you're possibly looking at losing at least 10-15lbs; maybe more for some. Not only will it help you lose weight, you will see a difference in your energy level. Once you achieve this, begin adding a workout plan that will help to maintain your new figure. One of the most important reasons why I continue to work out and maintain a healthy weight is because I want to live a long healthy life and feel good about who I am.
I was diagnosed with a lung condition back in 2008 and became extremely sick, which caused me to medically retire out of the Army. But one of the greatest factors in my process of recovering, I was already pretty healthy and continued to have good eating habits along with a very discipline exercise regimen. I was unable to continue at the level and rate I had been, but even with only a small amount I was able to maintain my weight and health.
For many women, when we think about exercising and dieting we think about becoming a particular size; most popular seems to be a size 2 or 4. I've been pretty petite my entire life and I have actually hated it. When I see women size 6 or 8 I think they have very nice shapes. They have nice curves, nice thighs and legs, and even a good size waste; in any event, they believe they need to lose weight. I could never figure it out, until now. Hollywood has us women going crazy trying to look like the size 0 models plastered on the magazines and clothing ads. Well, this is what I think about a size 0; nothing. There is absolutely nothing to a body that only measures in as a 0 as a grown woman. I'm a woman; I want hips, breast, thighs, and a little back side. And I don't want these things to satisfy anyone else; I want it because I like it. Also remember, we are our own worst critics and what we see isn't always anything near what others may see. However, when we're eating any and everything we want it will eventually catch up to us. I had a young friend in her late 20's that bragged about being able to eat anything because she worked out all the time. Well, she is in her 30's now and she see's that no matter how small you might be in your 20's and how you work out, by your 30's and up, it will begin to catch up.
Ladies, find a size that is healthy for you; maintain it with exercising and eating healthy. Just because Hollywood says being a size 0 is beautiful doesn't make it true. Beauty is actually defined by the individual.
Also remember, the importance of exercise and healthy eating habits is so you will be around long enough to see your children grow up and see their children grow up, and stay active in their lives; literally active.

Over thirty-five percent of our U.S population is overweight; but then again, I also understand the measurements used to determine this percentage is a bit outdated. Nonetheless, each of us is aware when we cross that line and begin to face health issues based on our weight.
If it means I will feel better and look better; for me, having a good exercise regimen and healthy eating habits, I'm going to do it. There's nothing like getting in beautiful gowns and nice outfits; that is part of my reward as well. Physically when you're feeling good and looking good it affects the psyche too. You begin to change the way you think, less stress, and most of all proud that you have been disciplined enough to stick to your regimen.
